Create Transport Route Plans
Create a transport plan with dates, vehicles, fixed departure overrides, start and end behaviour, overnight rules, and optimisation objectives.
Article guidance
A route plan is the container for stops, vehicles, fixed vehicle departure rules, optimisation, route review, and job sheets. It can cover one day or a short date range depending on your route needs.
Create the plan
- Open Transport > Route plans: Choose New plan.
- Enter plan details: Add plan name, start date, end date where needed, and selected vehicles.
- Add vehicle overrides where needed: Use per-vehicle time and location overrides when a specific vehicle must leave at a fixed local time or use a different start or finish point.
- Choose start and finish modes: Use vehicle base, custom start, custom end, or other available modes that match the real operation.
- Set overnight rules: Use overnight settings when a plan spans multiple days and vehicles or drivers need overnight handling.
- Choose optimisation objective: Balanced is a sensible default. Other objectives can prioritise fastest route, fewest vehicles, lowest cost, or earliest completion where available.
- Save the plan: The plan opens ready for stops.
Useful setup checks
- Selected vehicles are active and available.
- Fixed departure overrides are intentional dispatch decisions, not target times.
- Start and end locations match where drivers actually begin and finish.
- Max driver day and avoid restacking settings match your operational rules.
- Overnight notes and custom locations are clear enough for dispatch review.
