CSV import is the sensible way to move an existing list into SmartGig without typing every participant again. It still needs review. A messy spreadsheet remains a messy source file until names, emails, duplicate rows, and unnecessary data have been cleaned up.
Prepare the file
- Use a CSV or TXT file.
- Keep one participant per row.
- Make sure each useful row has a name and email address.
- Use separate columns for phone, business name, and any other mapped fields.
- Remove obvious duplicates before upload where possible.
- Check that email addresses are real and not shared placeholders.
Import the file
Open the directory
Choose Import CSV.
Upload the file
Select the CSV from your computer.
Map the columns
Match your spreadsheet columns to SmartGig fields such as name, email, phone, and business name.
Review the preview
Check sample rows and warnings before confirming.
Confirm import
SmartGig creates valid profiles and skips rows it cannot safely import.
Common import issues
- Rows without an email address are skipped.
- Duplicate email addresses are skipped or matched to protect existing profiles.
- Unexpected spreadsheet formatting can cause odd-looking values. Fix the source file and import again if the preview looks wrong.
Do not bulk import sensitive or unnecessary personal data. Only bring in data your team needs for event operations.
Keeping trader details tidy across events?
SmartGig connects trader applications, participant profiles, documents, payments, approvals and arrival state so your team is not rebuilding the same list every event.
